Why Homeschool?

As parents, we choose to home-school our kids because we believe that it is part of our responsibility to educate our children without having to depend on other teachers or schools. Since my husband and I are both educators, we can teach our kids much more than how they will be taught in traditional classrooms. Furthermore, we can teach our kids right values. The influence of peers and social media is becoming worst these days and the values that kids in traditional schools get are no longer positive. Moreover, we spend more time with our kids when we are homeschooling them than when they are in traditional schools.

Let me also share with you a little bit of what led us to choose homeschooling 3 years ago.

In March 2013, my first two kids had a traumatic experience with the school they were enrolled in.  What was worst was that, my husband got a harsh treatment from the administration and I got so worried about my kids' situation because I was out of the country at that time. That event prompted me to look for a better school or a better alternative. This was the time when I discovered about homeschooling in the Philippines. I shared this with my husband and he liked the idea. In fact, he enrolled himself in Early Childhood Education (ECE) courses at Brokenshire College in order to prepare himself to teach our three kids. We already had plans for them to live outside of the country with me and so we went on with it.

On July 26, 2013, we received the books we bought from Homeschool Global (formerly TMA Homeschool) and that was the start of our homeschooling journey.

Since then, we never looked back.
